About Rising TIDE @ MKEC:


Rising TIDE is a free after-school program whose mission is to empower children and youth of low income, multicultural families of the greater Long Beach area through academic support, mentoring, cultural enrichment, arts, sports, and recreational programming.

Rising TIDE this week!

Rising TIDE offers a safe space and programming, including tutoring and homework assistance from after school Monday through Thursday to 6 PM for elementary and 8 PM for youth (middle school & high school).

Rising TIDE Summer 2024 Enrollment Form
Rising TIDE is excited to announce that our Summer programming will be available both virtually and in-person! Our Summer plans are already underway, with programming scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, inclusive of lunch, running from June 17th to July 25th. By signing up now, you secure a spot in our summer program.

Upon receiving your application, we will personally reach out to provide details about the specific classes we'll offer. This allows you to have a say in your child's schedule for the six-week Rising TIDE summer program.

Spring Cleaning tips:

Spring cleaning is a great way to refresh your living space and declutter your life. Here are some tips to make your spring cleaning efficient and effective:

Tip #260: Expired Sunscreens
Expired sunscreen can harm your skin. Check old bottles for SPF, toss any expired ones, and make a list of replacements for spring. Dispose of partially used bottles properly to avoid water contamination. For more info, click here.

As we anticipate sunny backyard days, prepare your outdoor gear now to beat the chill. Declutter your patio items before spring for easier cleaning later. Consider replacing worn-out furniture, decor, toys, and dining essentials before your first BBQ. For more information, click here.

Rising TIDE will be offering Rising TIDE participants and their families:

  • Grocery pick up
    Monday: 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM
    Thursday: 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM

**Children and youth must be accompanied by an adult to receive food items. 
When families stop by, they can pick up worksheets, & library books to borrow.
